April 2007 – Information Assurance Small Business Association Gaining Momentum The Information Assurance Small Business Association (IASBA) has been meeting on a monthly basis since its kickoff meeting December 2006. During this time the IASBA has met with various senior personnel with the Information Assurance Directorate (IAD), presented at the Maryland Marketing Luncheon, interacted with a number of large businesses, solicited and collected capability information from over 20 small businesses providing IA services, and developed final drafts of the IASBA legal documents. The IASBA founding committee has received very positive feedback from the client community regarding the value of the IASBA's mission to advocate IA client needs to the small business community as well as small business capabilities to those IA clients, including the definition of contracting mechanisms to more directly engage the small business contracting community. In addition, large businesses have expressed a desire to have access to an aggregated view of small business capabilities, and small businesses have found the IASBA to be a non-competitive environment to network and establish teaming relationships to pursue IA opportunities.
